Chauvet's PXL Bars impress enough to be added to rental stock

Chauvet COLORado PXL 16 battens

Linear battens that create light curtains have been a popular tool for lighting designers for several years, and following extensive use of Chauvet’s COLORado PXL 16’s – we were so impressed we’ve added them to our rental stock.

The effect remains as popular as ever, and with the constant evolution of creative programming and imaginative ways to use these types of units – we’re now sure it’s a staple fixture that is here to stay.

Following lots of research and testing of fixtures, we decided to put the PXL 16’s through their paces on Barry Can’t Swim’s European and UK tour, which saw us use 142x of the units at Brixton, with 28x throughout the rest of the tour.

We were impressed with everything from their responsiveness, colours, zoom range, and reliability, having no issues, failures, or swap-outs during the 3-week tour. The fact they’re IP65 is yet another bonus towards their flexibility, meaning they can be used outside, including on stage thrusts or on the downstage of festival stages, without concern for what the weather might do!

The new fixtures are already popular rental items for both our design and production teams, and have been used on other shows such as Floating Points, Frankie Stew & Harvie Gunn, HONNE, and many other shows already this year, with plenty more planned.
